Tonight, Leo got home early (by 5:15, usually he gets home around 6:30), and of course, Jackson greeted him with "HI DADDY HI DADDY!!!. He gets very excited when Leo comes home. By the end of each day, me and Jackson are a little sick of staring at each other's faces. It's nice when Leo's around.
We spent the next 30 minutes sitting in Jackson's room- Jackson on Leo's lap, Charlotte bundled in blankets in my arms. Jackson played games on Leo's phone and belly laughed until he couldn't anymore. I guess he was hitting a sword against a pole and it made a funny noise? I'm not sure, but Jackson loved it.
Charlotte was fussing for the first 10 minutes when Leo got home and so I wrapped her in 2 blankets (first a thin Aden & Anais, then a cozy knit one). We have a system and I love that I know what will calm her down. I don't always know exactly what to do but I have figured her out for the most part. Her pacifier helps her fall asleep, she needs to be warm and she needs a clean diaper.
I sure love my little family and I love that I feel so much more emotionally stable the second time with this baby, so I can really appreciate this part of her life. I think one of the biggest things that helps me stay sane is having Jackson around. Not only because he keeps me busy but it's nice to have someone to talk to all day. With your first, you just sit and nurse and watch tv and sit and nurse and watch tv in your silent house. I think that's what was so hard for me. It's nice to have my little buddy Jackson with me. Newborns aren't boring... but maybe a little bit. Sorry Charlie (we actually never call her Charlie.. or Lottie)
